Weekend Preview: Springfield Hosts Minnesota

HOME SWEET HOME!

The Springfield Jr. Blues are at home this weekend for the first time since January 3rd when they do battle with the Minnesota Magicians.

It has been 23 days since Springfield played at home, and Head Coach Tony Zasowski says this weekend will be exciting. “Our schedule has been off the usual, with weekday games, breaks and two Sunday games. It is exciting to get back to a normal routine with a Friday-Saturday weekend home series and play in front of our Springfield fans.”

Springfield (17-17-1-1, 36 pts.) is currently in 3rd place in the NAHL Midwest Division standings and are looking to gain ground on the Magicians (22-12-2-2, 48 pts.) who are currently in 2nd place.

A-chievers Weekend: The Springfield Jr. Blues players will be welcoming students this weekend who have shown excellence in the classroom. All students 17 & under who show their report card at the door that has an “A” or equivalent on it will receive FREE ADMISSION on both Friday and Saturday night!

Friday night will also be Teacher Appreciation Night where Teachers and Faculty members will receive $5 admission at the door! The first 1,000 fans through the door will receive a free tote bag from Office Depot. Teachers who are in attendance will also have the chance to win a FREE TABLET COMPUTER courtesy of Office Depot. Doors open at 6:05pm and puck drops at 7:05pm.

Saturday nights game is presented by the YMCA. The YMCA will be giving away a FREE Family Membership to Springfield fans in attendance that. After the game, all fans will have the opportunity to skate with the Springfield Jr. Blues players after the game. Gates open at 5:05pm and puck drops at 6:05pm.

Who’s Hot: Springfield has their offense rolling at the moment. This past weekend in Coulee Region, Springfield put up 11 goals between the two games that included a season high 9 goals on Saturday night. Springfield was lead by captain Matt Long who had 2 goals and 2 assists on Friday night for his first 4-point game of the season. Long, a native of Orland Park, Illinois, now has 31 points in 34 games this season.
