Springfield Goaltender Juraj Ovecka Named NAHL Midwest Division ‘Star Of The Week’

The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce goaltender Juraj Ovecka has been named the NAHL’s Midwest Division Star Of The Week.

Ovecka, a native of Skalica, Slovakia, made his Springfield Jr. Blues debut on Wednesday night at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota, stopping 40 of 41 shots and helping Springfield to a 2-1 victory over the Aberdeen Wings. He then followed up that performance with two more victories, as Springfield defeated the Bismarck Bobcats 3-2 and the Austin Bruins 4-3 in a shootout.

At the NAHL Showcase, Ovecka, who was the 13th ranked European goaltender on NHL’s Central Scouting for 2017, posted a 3-0 record to go along with a 1.65 goals against average and a .954 save percentage.

The Springfield Jr. Blues will be at home this weekend on Friday and Saturday against the Kenai River Brown Bears. Friday puck drops at 7:05pm and Saturday 6:05pm. Fans can visit www.happsnow.com to purchase tickets in advance and SAVE off the ticket price at the door!
