Springfield Breaks Fairbanks Ice Dogs Streak

The Springfield Jr. Blues took two out of four possible points this weekend when they broke the Fairbanks Ice Dogs 33-game point streak. Friday night Springfield won 5-3 over Fairbanks. It was Brandon Puricelli with two goals and two assists, along with two goals from Patrick Smyth, and one goal from Marcus Walter, which broke the Ice Dogs streak. Goalie Jurja Ovecka denied 26 goals to Fairbanks and picked up his 10th win of the year. On Saturday the Ice Dogs won with a final score of 6-1. Forward Max Brainin was the sole scoring player for Springfield.

The team took Sunday to rest and tour the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.

Today Springfield will travel to take on the Kenai River Brown Bears for a three-game set this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
