Jr. Blues Acquire Atkinson

The Springfield Jr Blues are excited to announce the acquisition of Ryan Atkinson in a trade with the Odessa Jackalopes.  The Jr. Blues traded a 2011-2012 tender for the 5'8" 170 lbs 1993 born forward from Vacaville, CA.

Atkinson played in 60 games this season for the Jackalopes  in the NAHL South Division, registering 10 goals, 9 assists and 63 PIMS. in 60 games. Ryan won the Iron Man and 7th man of the year awards for the Jackalopes. 

Prior to his junior hockey career, Ryan was part of coach Zasowski's 2010-11 San Jose Jr. Sharks squad that won both the California State Championship and NAPHL Regular Season by going 21-3-1 in the league.  Atkinson scored 13 goals and 17 assists in 25 games during league play.  He was selected to the PHL Top Prospects event where he lead his team in scoring.

In the classroom Ryan was the solutatorian for his high school graduating with the highest GPA in his class.  He also won the award for Most Outstanding Viking in his school.  

"Ryan comes to the Jr. Blues with a strong character presence.  He has had just as much success in the classroom as on the ice.  He will be able to lead by example as we start the 2012 hockey season." said Coach Tony "I am excited to surround the returning veterans with key players that I know will add the the success of our team."
