Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are pleased to announce that goaltender Ryan Wilson has committed to play collegiate hockey Army West Point!

Wilson, who is from Darien, Connecticut, is in his first season with the Jr. Blues. In 15 appearances this season the 2000 birth year holds a 6-6-0-1 record with a 2.85 GAA and .904 SV%. Wilson has two shutouts so far this season and a penalty shot save with :1 remaining in a 2-1 victory over Topeka in September.

“Ryan is a great player and person, and we are so proud of him,” said Head Coach Tyler Rennette. “West Point is getting a hard working and dedicated player with loads of potential.”

Wilson took to Twitter to make his announcement, and had this to say: “Proud and honored to announce my commitment to play Division 1 college hockey at Army West Point. Thank you to my teammates, coaches, friends, and family who made this possible. #GoArmy”

Wilson is the 4th player on the Jr. Blues to commit to a Division 1 program. He joins Jonathan Panisa (UMASS Amherst), Caden Villegas (Union), and Hunter Longhi (Harvard). At Army he will join fellow alum Patrick Smyth, who is in his first season at West Point.
