The Jr. Blues Week Ahead

Springfield, Illinois – The Jr. Blues are one of the hottest teams in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) right now. They have won four straight games and the offense exploded for ten goals last weekend against Fairbanks. The Minnesota Wilderness, who sit in first place in the Midwest division, are the only hotter team than the Jr. Blues right now winning their last eight games.

The Jr. Blues kick-off a three-game set in Kenai River against the Brown Bears on Thursday night. The Jr. Blues, who currently sit in 8th place in the Midwest division, have a record of 4-8-2-0 and look to continue their winning ways when the puck drops Thursday night. Isaac Keller, the reigning Midwest Division Star of the Week, has had the hot hand as of late. He currently leads the Jr. Blues in scoring with 4 goals, 7 assists and 11 points in 14 games. He has 1 goal and 7 assists in the last two games. Trey Jefferis has also been a major contributor to the Jr. Blues offense since joining the team. He has scored 4 goals and added 5 assists for 9 points in just 9 games played. Goaltender JJ Cataldo has been a wall in the net lately. He has stopped 79 of the last 84 shots he has faced.

 The Brown Bears swept the Jr. Blues September 22nd & 23rd in Springfield and currently sit in 6th place in the Midwest division with a record of 6-7-1-0 for 13 points. Forwards Dylan Contreras and Cade Baker are tied for the scoring lead. Contreras has 6 goals, 8 assists for 14 points and Baker has 3 goals, 11 assists for 14 points.

The series gets underway at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex Thursday night at 10:30 PM CST. The two teams will also play Friday and Saturday night at 10:30 PM.
