Springfield Jr. Blues Unveil New Official Team Logo

Aug 2, 2017

The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), have released a new logo ahead of the 2017-18 NAHL season, which also marks the team’s 25th year anniversary.

The change better identifies with the city of Springfield by depicting President Abraham Lincoln.

Owner Dan Ferguson said it was time Springfield Jr. Blues had an identity of its own. “There is a lot of goodwill with the name that is worth preserving. However, it’s important that we have our own look and feel that cannot be mistaken for another club, youth or pro, which currently is a problem both in marketing the team to Springfield and recruiting players outside the area,” he said. The new logo eliminates a portion of the notion that we are affiliated with the NHL team St Louis Blues.”

Fans will be able to purchase merchandise, with the new logo, when the season kicks off in September.

“The change in the logo provides a huge opportunity for fans, especially those in the Springfield area that are Chicago Blackhawk fans and do not care for anything related to St. Louis, to proudly wear our gear,” Ferguson added.

The note, which is the main feature of the original logo, is still incorporated in the new logo as the ‘f’ in Springfield.

Pre Season games are set for September 8th vs the Lindenwood University Lions and September 9th & 10th versus the University of Illinois Fighting Illini The 2017-18 regular season begins September 16th at home versus divisional rival the Janesville Jets.
