Nov 12, 2018

Fairbanks, Alaska – The Springfield Jr. Blues went into The Big Dipper Ice Arena needing four points to pull into 4th place in the Midwest Division. And they did just that. A 3-1 win on Friday was followed by a 3-2 shootout win on Saturday to extend the Jr. Blues win streak to three games.

November 9: Jr. Blues 3 – Ice Dogs 1

A two goal 3rd period lifted the Jr. Blues past the Ice Dogs on Friday night. Max Osborne (Anchorage, AK) opened the scoring late in the 1st period, but a 2nd period Fairbanks goal tied the game up heading into the 3rd period. David Schmidling (St. Joseph, MO) scored his first goal of the year to break the tie and Max Brainin (Buffalo Grove, IL) added to the lead just two minutes later. Jack Williams (St. Louis, MO) would do the rest of the work, stopping 22 of 24 shots to earn his fourth victory of the season.

November 10: Jr. Blues 3 – Ice Dogs 2 (SO)

With a lot of divisional implications on the line, the Jr. Blues rallied from two goals down to sweep the Ice Dogs on Saturday night. Max Brainin and Brandon Puricelli (St. Louis, MO) scored in the 2nd period to tie the game, but extra time was needed to decide the winner. Puricelli and Ben Schmidling (St. Joseph, MO) scored in the shootout and Jack Williams stopped three of four to give the Jr. Blues the 3-2 victory. Williams has won three straight games and Brainin has scored a goal in four of his last five games.
