Springfield Suffers Setback to Split Weekend Series

The Springfield Jr. Blues fell to the Coulee Region Chill on Sunday afternoon 5-2 to split the weekend series.

After a scoreless first period, the Chill struck first scoring 5 minutes 41 seconds into the second period. Coulee Region extended their lead to 2 goals before Alex Peck got Springfield on the scoreboard, cutting the Chill lead to 2-1.  The goal was Peck’s 4th of the season.

However, Coulee Region was able to add two more goals before the second period as Springfield trailed 4-1 heading into the third period.

In the third, Coulee Region was able to extend their lead to 5-1 before Brandon Puricelli scored his 8th goal of the season to bring the score to 5-2 where it remained the rest of the contest.

Springfield outshot the Chill 35-26 and Springfield goaltender Mike Robinson made 21 saves in net.

Springfield will be back at The Nelson Center on Friday, January 27th for Achievers Weekend where students that show an “A” or equivalent on their report card will get in for FREE! It will also be Teacher Appreciation Night where teachers and faculty receive $5 admission at the door!
