Springfield Scores 5 Goals To Defeat Minnesota

The Springfield Jr. Blues received five goals from five different players to defeat the Minnesota Magicians 5-2 on Friday Night at The Nelson Center.

Springfield and Minnesota looked to be heading to a scoreless first period, until Springfield captain Matt Long scored with 3:47 remaining in the period. Springfield led 1-0 after the first.

Springfield added to it’s lead just five minutes into the second period as Brennan Blaszczak scored his team leading 14th goal of the season. Minnesota answered with a goal just 1 minute and 15 seconds later to cut their deficit to 2-1.

Springfield was able to regain their lead on a power play goal scored by defenseman Connor Matsinger and took a 3-1 lead into the third period.

It was more of the same from Springfield in the third period. Springfield received goals from Brandon Puricelli and Max Nylander and the game concluded in a 5-2 victory for Springfield.

Goaltender Mike Robinson was named Player of the Game by Springfield fans. Robinson stopped 45 of the 47 shots that the Magicians put on the Springfield net.

Springfield will be back at The Nelson Center tomorrow night to continue A-chievers Weekend! Student’s who show their report card with an “A” or equivalent get in for FREE at the door! The Springfield YMCA will be giving away a FREE Family Membership and there will be a post game skate with the team! Doors open at 5:05pm and puck drops at 6:05pm.
