Springfield Rallies Late To Defeat Magicians 3-2

The Springfield Jr. Blues used their own form of magic Saturday night, scoring 3 late third period goals to defeat the Minnesota Magicians 3-2 Saturday night at the Richfield Ice Arena.

The Jr. Blues trailed the Magicians 1-0 through two periods. But Springfield’s Bradley Marek tied it with a goal assisted by Casey Fitzjerrells and Riley Doyon at 13 minutes 23 seconds into the third period. 1 minute later, Jeff Skinner gave Springfield a 2-1 lead with assists from Patrick Smyth and Max Brainin. Marcus Walter later made it 3-1 at the 16:25 mark, with Ethan Stewart and Skinner getting assists, finishing off Springfield’s comeback.

 

Springfield outshot Minnesota 29-28 and with the win are now 11-8-1-1 with 24 points, pulling them within two points of third-place Minnesota in the NAHL Midwest Division.

The Magicians will host the Jr. Blues in the second game of the series at 6:05 p.m. Sunday.
