Springfield Jr. Blues Pick Up Weekend Split

10.1The Springfield Jr. Blues took on the Minnesota Wilderness looking to bounce back and split the weekend.

The Wilderness got the scoring going with a goal in the first period to give them a 1-0 lead heading into the second. In the second, Matt Long got the scoring going for Springfield with a goal off assists from Fletcher Fineman and Jack Summers to tie the game at 1-1. Luke Picek then scored off assists for Ryan Leibold and Kennan Sabatini to give Springfield the 2-1 lead at the end of the second. In the thirdm Matt Long found the back of the net again, this time off assists from Matt Cassidy and Connor Matsinger to push the lead to 3-1. The Wilderness answered with a power play goal to cut the lead to 3-2, but Matsinger scored and empty net goal to make the score 4-2, which would be the game’s final.

Evan Fear had 23 saves in the win.

The Springfield Jr. Blues are back at home again next weekend to take on the Coulee Region Chill.
