Springfield Jr. Blues Alumni Report #8

Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues have over 90 alumni playing in higher junior hockey leagues, college hockey, or professional hockey. Here is a recap of some of our alumni.

Kevin Loppatto (2010-11); Vännäs HC, Division 1

Kevin Loppatto (Georgia, VT) played part of the 2010-11 season for the Jr. Blues, scoring 1 goal and 5 assists. After playing for a number of junior teams, Loppatto played college hockey for Manhattanville College for three seasons. Loppatto is currently playing for Vannas HC in Sweden’s Division 1. He has 13 goals and 7 assists for Vannas through 18 games played this season.

Grant Meyer (2014-15); Canisius College, NCAA

Grant Meyer (Curtice, OH) played in Springfield during the 2014-15 season scoring 7 goals and 10 assists in 30 games. Meyer played parts of 3 seasons in the USHL for the Youngstown Phantoms and Fargo Force, being named assistant captain of the Force in 2016-17. Meyer currently plays for Canisius College and has 2 goals and 9 assists on the year.

Tommy Nappier (2015-16); Ohio St. Univ., NCAA

Tommy Nappier (St. Louis, MO) has made waves in Columbus this season. After playing in Springfield during the 2015-16 season and posting a 2.45 GAA, Nappier played for the Chicago Steel and Omaha Lancers in the USHL before attending Ohio State University. In 9 games played for the Buckeyes this season, Nappier is 3rd in the nation in GAA at 1.43 and 2nd in the nation in save percentage with a .957.
