Springfield Falls In A Shootout To Kenai River

Sep 29, 2017

The Springfield Jr. Blues were unable to repeat their shootout efforts from their previous game, dropping Friday night’s contest to the Kenai River Brown Bears by a score of 2-1 in a shootout.

After a scoreless first period, Kenai River opened the scoring with a power-play goal 5 minutes and 22 seconds into the second period. With just under 4 minutes remaining in the second, Springfield forward Nikita Kozyrev beat the Brown Bears goaltender with a backhand shot.

The score remained tied 1-1 through the second, third and overtime periods to send the game to a shootout. Kozyrev was able to score for Springfield in the shootout, but Kenai River was able to get 2 pucks past Springfield goaltender Juraj Ovecka to give them the extra point.

Springfield will play these same Kenai River Brown Bears tomorrow night at 6:05pm. Saturday is Kids Club Night here in Springfield! Members of the kids club receive FREE admission with their membership, as well as free skate rental for the post-game skate with the Springfield Jr. Blues!
