Springfield Falls 8-3 To Kenai River At Home

The Springfield Jr. Blues were unable to find success, falling in Saturday night’s game to the Kenai River Brown Bears by a margin of 8-3.
Kenai River tallied first 3 minutes and 28 into the first period. Just a few minutes later, at 7:58, Springfield forward Fabio Hollenstein finds the back of the net with assists from Max Branin and Patrick Smyth. 14 minutes and 43 seconds into the first period, Springfield tallies again, this time from forward Nikita Kozyrev, with assists from Marcus Walter and Jordan Muzzillo. Kenai River tied it up at 2-2 at 17:03.
Kenai River scored again quickly in the second, at 1:17 and at 3:41. Springfield retaliated at 13 minutes and 42 seconds into the second, when forward Ethan Stewart scored with assists from Connor Matsinger and Jordan Muzzilo, his second assist of the night.
The third period featured heavy penalties against the Jr. Blues, including a 5 minute major boarding penalty, resulting in three power play goals by Kenai River. Their final goal of the night came at 14:39, closing out the game.
