Springfield Faces Must-Win Scenario Against Coulee Region

Mar 30, 2017

The Springfield Jr. Blues (25-27-3-1, 54 pts.) face a tough challenge ahead of them. Trailing Coulee Region (28-24-2-0 58 pts.) by 4 points for the final playoff spot in the NAHL Midwest Division, Springfield must win their next 4 games to guarantee their spot in the playoffs.

For those unfamiliar with the point system, A win is worth 2 points and a loss results in 0 points. However if a team loses in overtime or a shootout, they are still rewarded with 1 point. The best result is for Springfield to win without the game going to overtime.

Springfield will also need help from the Janesville Jets, the team that defeated Springfield 4-1 Tuesday Night at The Nelson Center. Coulee Region will play the Jets twice in the remaining two weeks of the season. Wins by the Chill in those games will all but eliminate Springfield from playoff contention.

With the writing on the wall, Springfield’s head coach Tony Zasowski was very direct when asked about the upcoming series. “It’s Do or Die time. We’re gearing up for must win games.”
