Springfield Erupts for 6 Goals in Win

The Springfield Jr. Blues scored early and often on Friday night, as they defeated the Kenai River Brown Bears by the score of 6-1 at The Nelson Center.

Springfield opened the scoring just 38 seconds into the game when forward Max Nylander ripped a slap shot past the Brown Bears goaltender, putting Springfield up 1-0.

Springfield would add three more goals in the 1st period on goals from Matt Long, Matt Cassidy and Zachary Tyson to extend their lead to 4-0 after one period of play.

Kenai River came out strong in the second period, getting on the scoreboard 58 seconds into the 2nd period. However, Springfield responded with two goals from forward Brennan Blaszczak to make the Springfield lead 6-1. The goals were a team-leading 17th and 18th for Blaszczak.

Mike Robinson was in goal for Springfield and stopped 29 of 30 Kenai River shots. Springfield outshot the Brown Bears 46-30.
