Springfield Chills the Chill to Complete Weekend Sweep

Dec 11, 2016

The Springfield Jr. Blues got some holiday magic out of their ugly holiday sweater jerseys this weekend. On Saturday night, they were able to defeat the Coulee Region Chill 5-3 and complete the weekend sweep. The win also moved Springfield (14-12-1-1) into third place in the NAHL Midwest Division.

Springfield received goals from Braden Brown, Brennan Blaszczak, Matt Cassidy and Fabio Hollenstein to hold a 4-3 lead after two periods of play.

Springfield was outshot in the third 11-1, but they made their one shot count. Matt Cassidy fired a slap shot by the Chill goaltender with less than 2 minutes left to play for his second goal of the game.

Springfield goaltender Mike Robinson stopped 28 of 31 Coulee Region shots to pick up the victory in net. Coulee Region outshot Springfield 31-30 for the game.

Springfield is now 9-1-1 in their last 11 games
