Skinner, Brainin Lead Springfield To A Weekend Sweep Of Topeka

The Springfield Jr. Blues scored early and often on Saturday night, defeating the Topeka Roadrunners 5-2 at the Nelson Center and completing the weekend sweep.

Springfield was lead by forward Jeff Skinner who tallied 2 goals and 2 assists for his first 4 point game of his career. Springfield also received 2 goals and an assist from forward Max Brainin.

Chase Mickelson finished off the scoring for Springfield with a power-play goal, assisted by Jordan Muzzillo and Ethan Stewart.

Patrick Smyth added 3 assists for Springfield as well.

In goal, Juraj Ovecka stopped 34 of 36 Topeka shots. During the weekend sweep, Ovecka made 82 saves on 86 opportunities for a .953 save percentage and a 1.93 goals against average.
