A NEW ERA IN SPRINGFIELD:

Saturdays contest at the Nelson Center will be the NAHL debut for both head coaches, as Janesville recently hired former NHL player Gary Shuchuk to head the Jets and Springfield will have a new head coach for the first time since 2012.

Tyler Rennette takes over behind the bench and promises a faster-more offensive style of play from Springfield. His promises showed to be true in their 3 pre-season contests, averaging over 5 goals per game.

FAMILIAR FACES:

The Springfield Jr. Blues will have some familiar names on their roster when the 2017-18 season kicks off. Springfield returns 10 players from the 2016-17 season. Those players are forwards Aiden Beck, Fabio Hollenstein, Patrick Smyth, Zach Tyson and defensemen Fletcher Fineman, Mark Leach, Connor Matsinger, Chase Mickelson, Jordan Muzzillo and Jack Nickels. Except for Beck, who was acquired via trade late in the season, all returning players dressed in at least 40 games for Springfield, with Mickelson playing the most at 56 games out of 60.

Springfield also will have an older, more experienced team than in years past, having 20 players on their roster that have junior hockey experience.

COOPER’S ALLEYSIDE POST-GAME PARTY:

Springfield Jr. Blues fans will have a place to meet & greet coaches and players after select home games this season.

Cooper’s Alleyside restaurant will be the official post-game hang out spot for Springfield Jr. Blues players & coaches. Fans are more than welcome to visit the team at the restaurant following the game this Saturday to relax, chat and get autographs from players. Cooper’s Alleyside restaurant is located inside King Pin Lanes at the corner of Sangamon & Dirksen (just 2 miles east of The Nelson Center).
