Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud member of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are please to announce that veteran goaltender Aksel Reid has committed to play Division 1 Hockey at Union College next season!
After playing 7 games for the Jr. Blues during the 2021-22 season, the Minneapolis, MN native appeared in 39 games last year posting 2.82 goals against average and a .911 save percentage. Prior to his junior hockey career, Reid spent four seasons at the prestigious Blake School in Minnesota.
“Aksel has the character and skill that any team would want,” said Head Coach Todd Pococke. “Union is getting a great goaltender, but an even better person and we look forward to tracking his progress at the Division 1 level.”
Reid joins Nikita Nikora (Dartmouth), Cole Lonsdale (RIT), Jake Peterson (Air Force), Adyn Merrick (Northern Michigan), Tyler Borgula (Quinnipiac), James Callahan (Air Force), Marcus Broberg (Omaha), Hagen Moe (Bowling Green), Hayden Riva (Lake Forest), Carter Cloutier (Lawrence), and Ben Edwards (St. Norbert) to make an NCAA commitment.
