Puricelli, Jr. Blues Earn Divisional Awards

Apr 30, 2019

Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Brandon Puricelli has been named the Midwest Division Forward of the Year and Most Valuable Player! Additionally, Puricelli was named to the All-Midwest Division Team and the Jr. Blues were named the Midwest Division Organization of the Year!

Puricelli, 21, recently committed to continue his hockey career at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. In 59 games this season Puricelli scored 30 goals and added 50 assists to lead not only the team in points, but finished 4th in the entire league. His 50 assists set a single season Jr. Blues record for assists, and he finished just 4 points shy of the record for most points in a season.

Puricelli is the 32nd Jr. Blues player to earn an end of the year award (Divisional or League) in the 26 seasons that Springfield has fielded a team in the NAHL. He is the first to earn one of these honors since Stefanos Lekkas earned a spot on the All-Division team in 2013-14.

We are proud to announce that the Jr. Blues have earned the Midwest Division Organization of the Year for the first time in franchise history! The support from the Springfield and surrounding areas has been overwhelming and the Jr. Blues would like to thank all of the fans, sponsors, billets, and players for all of their hard work and effort this past season.
