Players To Watch: 2017 Drafted Forwards

The Springfield Jr. Blues will be running a featured series called “Players to Watch”. These stories will highlight the newest Springfield Jr. Blues players that will be competing at Main Camp.  The camp is FREE to all fans who wish to attend and will begin on Friday, June 23rd, and conclude on Sunday afternoon with the All-Star Game.

2017 DRAFTED FORWARDS

Kyler Yeo
Position: Forward
Age: 18

Acquired: Drafted 3rd Round, (53rd Overall) in 2017 NAHL Draft

Kyler Yeo was selected by Springfield in the 3rd round of the 2017 NAHL Draft. Yeo has spent the past 3 seasons playing in the Minnesota High School Hockey League for Hill-Murray School. Last season, Yeo scored 13 goals and had a team-high 21 assists in 25 games.

William Donald
Position: Forward
Age: 17

Acquired: Drafted 4th Round, (86th Overall) in 2017 NAHL Draft

William Donald was Springfield’s 4th round selection in the 2017 NAHL Draft. Donald has spent the last 2 seasons playing for the San Jose Jr. Sharks in the Tier I Elite Hockey League. This past season, Donald was a point-per-game player, contributing 16 goals and 13 assists in 29 games.

Justin Meers
Position: Forward

Acquired: Drafted 6th Round, (124th Overall) in 2017 NAHL Draft

Springfield selected Justin Meers with their 6th round selection in the 2017 NAHL Draft. Meers has spent the past 3 seasons with the St. Louis Selects of the NAPHL. This past season, Meers had his best performance in the NAPHL, scoring 29 points in 22 games for the Selects. He also added 2 goals and 2 assists in 4 games in the NAPHL Playoffs.

Bobby Frieling
Position: Forward
Age: 18

Hometown: Yardley, PA
Acquired: Drafted 7th Round, (147th Overall) in 2017 NAHL Draft

Bobby Freiling was selected in the 7th round of the 2017 NAHL Draft by Springfield. Freiling spent last season playing for Team Comcast in the AYHL. While paying for Team Comcast, Freiling led the team in both goals (7), and points (16), while playing in 17 games.

Jack Lippis

Acquired: Drafted 8th Round, (170th Overall) in 2017 NAHL Draft

Forward Jack Lippis was Springfield’s final selection in the 2017 NAHL Draft. Lippis spent this past season playing for The Gunnery Prep in Washington, Connecticut, netting 5 goals and adding 5 assists in 32 games played. He also has previous experience in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League with the Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U, leading the team with 34 points while playing in 32 games.
