Players To Watch: 2017 Drafted Defensemen

The Springfield Jr. Blues will be running a featured series called “Players to Watch”. These stories will highlight the newest Springfield Jr. Blues players that will be competing at Main Camp.  The camp is FREE to all fans who wish to attend and will begin on Friday, June 23rd, and conclude on Sunday afternoon with the All-Star Game.

2017 DRAFTED DEFENSEMEN

Marcus Walter
Position: Defenseman
Age: 18

Acquired: Drafted 1st Round, (7th Overall) in 2017 NAHL Draft

The Springfield Jr. Blues used their first pick in the 2017 NAHL Draft to select defenseman Marcus Walter. Walter has played the past 2 seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League for the Drayton Valley Thunder. Last season for the Thunder, Walter tallied 6 goals and 12 assist in 59 games played.

Max Osborne
Position: Defenseman
Age: 18

Height: 5’11”
Weight: 165
Hometown: Anchorage, AK
Acquired: Drafted 5th Round, (100th Overall) in 2017 NAHL Draft

With their 5th round pick in the 2017 NAHL Draft, Springfield selected defenseman Max Osborne. Osborne, a native of Anchorage, Alaska, has spent the past 2 seasons playing for New Hampton School in New Hampshire. This past season, Osborne played in 29 games, scoring 3 goals and adding 9 assists.
