Kozyrev Earns Midwest Division Star of the Week

Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud member of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that Nikita Kozyrev has been named Bauer Hockey’s Midwest Division Star of the Week! Max Osborne was named an Honorable Mention for his play over the weekend as well.

Forward Nikita Kozyrev, 20, played a big role in both wins over the weekend as he totaled three points in the two games. On Friday, the 5’8/155 lbs. native of Tallin, Estonia, had a goal in a 3-2 win, and then on Saturday, Kozyrev had the overtime-winning goal and an assist in a 2-1 win, completing the weekend sweep.

For the season, Kozyrev is 4th in team scoring with 17 points (3 goals, 14 assists) in 22 games played. “Nikita was back to the player that we are used to seeing. His speed and work ethic was elite this past weekend and he finally got a few bounces to go his way. He has the ability to be an elite player in our league and hopefully he can build on this and keep going the rest of the season,” said Jr. Blues head coach Tyler Rennette.

Defenseman Max Osborne, 19, had an assist in Friday nights game and a goal and an assist in Saturday nights game. The Anchorage, AK native has 3 goals and 7 assists through 30 games played this season, his second in Springfield.
