Nelson Commits to MSOE

Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Nigel Nelson has committed to play college hockey for the Milwaukee School of Engineering!

Nelson, 21, recorded 6 goals and 8 assists for the Jr. Blues in 51 appearances after a brief stint in Fairbanks to begin the season. Overall in three NAHL seasons, Nigel suited up in 171 games and tallied 43 points (19 goals, 24 assists) between the Topeka Roadrunners, Fairbanks Ice Dogs, and the Jr. Blues.

“Nigel found his role on the team and excelled in that position,” head coach Tyler Rennette said. “His experience was beneficial on the ice and in the locker room. We wish Nigel the best of luck next season at MSOE.”

The MSOE Raiders play out of Milwaukee, WI and are part of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA). The Raiders currently have one Jr. Blues alumnus on their roster (Kevin Shand) and four NAHL alumni in total. Nelson is the 16th Jr. Blues player to make a college commitment this season.
