Mustangs Come to Town September 3rd & 4th

Aug 19, 2021

Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are excited to announce that we will be hosting the Peoria Mustangs for two preseason games on September 3rd and 4th here at The Nelson Center!

Despite a lengthy layoff due to COVID-19, Head Coach Tyler Rennette and Assistant Coach Todd Pococke spent many hours and weekends scouting and watching video as they began the arduous task of putting together an entire roster for this season. And while they were able to watch the players compete during Main Camp, these two preseason games will give them an opportunity to evaluate players in live game action.

“Preseason games are an important part of our Training Camp process,” said Rennette. “Being able to see our guys play against Peoria will allow us to evaluate players on another level that we don’t get to see during practices.”

The games will also help Mustangs Head Coach Steve Ortman gain a better idea of how his young players will perform during the 2021-22 NA3HL season. They are coming off a strong 2020-21 campaign which saw the Mustangs finish 2nd in the Central Division with a 29-9-1-1 record and advance to the Division Finals in the playoffs.

The game on Friday the 3rd will start at 7 pm and the game on Saturday the 4th will start at 6 pm. Tickets for the game will be FREE and we will release information on how you can obtain your tickets in advance in the coming days. Additionally, we are following all guidelines and safety procedures to ensure that all players, fans, and staff can remain healthy.
