Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Ryan Murray has committed to play NCAA Division 3 college hockey at Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Murray, 20, provided a physical presence on the Jr. Blues backend from the time he was acquired from the Minnesota Wilderness last season. In 37 games this season, Murray tallied 1 goal and 7 assists and a grit the team needed in rough times. All in all Murray suited up in 71 NAHL games and scored 1 goal and 10 assists.

“Ryan is a great kid with the right mindset and a hard work ethic,” said coach Tyler Rennete, “Hamline is getting a great player and an even better person. We wish Ryan nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”

Hamline University’s athletics nickname is the “Pipers”. They are a member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and have six conference championships, most recently in 2015. Murray will join a roster that featured 8 NAHL and 4 NA3HL alumni last season.
