Jr. Blues Week Ahead – Kenai River

Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues are looking to turn things around this weekend as they return to home ice for a two-game series against the Kenai River Brown Bears. The Jr. Blues, who have lost five in a row, are 1-4 against Kenai River this season and every game has been very evenly matched.

The Jr. Blues, who currently sit in 8th place in the Midwest Division, have a record of 7-15-2-1 and look to get back in the wins column when the puck drops at the Nelson Center Friday night. Second year defensemen and Air Force commit Jake Peterson has been the most consistent player as of late and leads the team in scoring with 19 points. Veteran forward Isaac Keller is second on the team in scoring with 18 points. He and Landry Schmuck are tied for the team lead in goals with 7 each.

The Brown Bears are currently in 5th place in the Midwest Division with a record of 12-14-2-0 and are coming off a weekend sweep against in-state rivals the Anchorage Wolverines. Veteran forward and team captain Nick Stevens leads the Brown Bears offensive attack with 11 goals, 14 assists and 30 points. Dylan Contreras leads the team with 20 assists and has added 9 goals for 29 points. The Brown Bears have played the most games in the division with 28 and have allowed the most goals against with 104, six more than the Jr. Blues who have allowed 98 goals against so far.

Jr. Blues Holiday Weekend:

The Jr. Blues have an action packed three game weekend December 14-16 when the Anchorage Wolverines make their only visit to the Nelson Center. The team will be wearing special Christmas jerseys with an ugly sweater theme all three games.  Check out the details below:

Thursday December 14th will be sponsored by Coors Light, and we will be offering $2 16oz Coors Light Drafts the entire game. Puck drop is 7:05 PM

Friday December 15th – Happy Hour will take place on the blue mat from 6-7 PM with GREAT drink specials available. Puck drop is 7:05 PM

Saturday December 16th will have a lot to offer everyone in attendance. Puck drop is 6:05 PM
