The Jr Blues get the weekend sweep with the 2-1 shootout win over the Janesville Jets.
After both teams were held scoreless in the first period, Arseni Vashchuk scored at the 7:08 mark in the second to give the Jr Blues a 1-0 lead. Cody Lichtenvoort and Luke Radetic both had assists. The Jets were able to tie it up at 1-1 with a goal at the 6:31 mark in the third period. Neither team was able to score through the rest of regulation or overtime, so the game went to a shootout.
In the shootout Joey Lupo was able to score and Niko Della Maggorie held Janesville scoreless to give the Jr Blues a 2-1 win. Niko Della Maggorie had 26 saves in Saturday's win.
The win Saturday night moves the Jr Blues record to 9-3-1. The Jr Blues are at home again next weekend to take on the Topeka Roadrunners. Friday is Pink in the Rink to help raise money for Simmons Cancer Institute and American Cancer Society. Saturday night is Halloween with a costume contest and post game trick or treat with the team.
