Jr. Blues Sign Zwirecki to Tender

Jan 29, 2020

Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Jacob Zwirecki has signed a tender for the 2020-21 season!

Zwirecki, a native of East Amherst, New York, is currently playing for the Buffalo Sabres 18U Midget team. In 46 games played this season the 6’2” 190 lbs. left handed shot has 6 goals and 11 assists along with 18 penalty minutes.

“Jacob is a hard working defenseman with a lot of potential that can move the puck well,” Jr. Blues Head Coach Tyler Rennette said. “We’re excited for him to be here with us next season and we look forward to seeing him continue to grow the rest of this season and throughout the summer.”

Zwirecki is the third player to sign a tender with the Jr. Blues for the 2020-21 season. He joins fellow defenseman Brian Craven (South Shore Kings 18U) and forward Daniel Rozsival (Chicago Mission 18U), who signed earlier this season.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders – plus or minus any trades – which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft.
