Feb 20, 2023

Springfield, IllinoisThe Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that we have signed forward Caden Hegarty to a tender agreement for the 2023-24 season!

Hegarty, a native of Rosemount, MN, played this past season for Rosemount High School and Blue Army 18U AAA. In 37 games played split between Rosemount and Blue Army he has tallied 11 goals and 33 assists.

“Caden has a lot of size and skill that we are excited to see here in Springfield,” said Head Coach Tyler Rennette. “He’s worked hard to get to this point and we believe he has a lot more in the tank moving forward!”

Caden has played three years with Rosemount High and accumulated 20 goals and 49 assists in 73 games – just under a point per game average. He was teammates with both Zach Bade and Jake Peterson who have been fan favorites with the Jr. Blues the last two seasons. Hegarty also played for the MN Moose as well.

Hegarty is the fourth player to sign a tender with the Jr. Blues for the 2023-24 season as he joins Nick Bunch (Belle Tire 18U AAA), Jayar Luedke (CarShield 18U AAA), and Zach Howard (St. Thomas Academy)

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team.Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which is held each year in the summer.
