Jr. Blues Set to Host 1st Tryout Camp of Summer

Jun 22, 2021

Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that our first Draft Camp of the summer will be taking place this weekend at the Nelson Center!

The camp begins on Friday morning with player registration and runs through Sunday morning. Each team will get one practice session with coaches on Friday and will play three games over Saturday and Sunday. Games on Saturday begin at 9 am and go until 4:30 pm, and on Sunday games start at 9 am.

All games are open to the public and the Jr. Blues encourage fans to join us for hockey at the Nelson Center for the first time since February of 2020. Volunteer and Billet Family sign-ups will be available during the camp for fans who are interested in joining our extended family of supporters.

This will be our first tryout camp of the summer, but it won’t be our last. After this weekend we will join the Aberdeen Wings, North Iowa Bulls, and Kenai River Brown Bears in Sylvania, OH from July 9-11 for the Ohio Pre-Draft Challenge. The 2021 NAHL Entry Draft, an annual event where each team is allowed a certain amount of draft picks to round out their rosters, then takes place on July 14th and is available exclusively on HockeyTV.

We wrap up a busy month of July by hosting our 2021 Main Camp from July 29th through August 1st. All games, including the All-Star Game, will be held here at the Nelson Center and we will release more information on times as camp nears.
