Jr. Blues Drop Home Opener in Overtime

Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues opened their home schedule last night against the Kenai River Brown Bears. Although the boys in blue put up a great effort, Kenai River won in overtime 3-2 and the Jr. Blues record now sits at 2-2-1-0.

The Jr. Blues were led offensively by Brandon Puricelli (St. Louis, MO) and Nick Techel (Wausau, WI) who scored just six minutes apart in the 2nd period. Kenai River scored early in the 1st period to take the lead and scored early in overtime to win their fifth game of the season. The Jr. Blues finished the evening 1-3 on the power play and didn’t commit any penalties during the game.

The Jr. Blues and the Brown Bears will face off again tonight at 6:05 p.m., doors open at 5:00 p.m. Tonight will be the first Kids Club game of the season and there will be a postgame skate with the team.
