Jr. Blues Beat Jamestown 3-2

Jan 25, 2013

The Jr. Blues came out Saturday night and avenged their lost last night against the Jamestown Ironmen.

Micah Ranum got the Jr. Blues on the board half way through the first period. Ranum, who was stationed in front of the net, found an Alex Baskakov rebound and was able to put it in the back of the net. The goal, which came on the Jr. Blues first power play of the night, was Ranum's second as a Jr. Blue. Brett Skibba (pictured above) also received an assist on the play.

The Ironmen would answer back with a goal of their own just over 3 minutes later.

The game would remain 1-1 until just under 3 minutes to play in the game when Brett Skibba found a lose puck and drove down the right side of the rink. Skibba beat the Ironmen defensemen wide and was able to beat the goalie to give the team a 2-1 lead. Just over a minute later, with the Ironmen goalie out of the net, Skibba was once again able to find the back of the net.

The Ironmen scored a goal with less than 20 seconds left but were unable to find a third goal to tie the game.

Skibba ended the night with 2 goals and an assist. Also receiving assists on the night were Springfield native Trevor Stone, Terry Leabo, Alex Baskakov and Jack Sloan.

The win moves the Jr. Blues into a tie for 5th place in the North Division Standings with 16 games remaining in the season. The team will be back in action next Friday and Saturday as they play host to the Michigan Warriors. The puck drops at 7 PM both nights and the team will be wearing special Army jerseys that will be auctioned off thanks to the US Army.
