Jr. Blues Announce 2021-22 Schedule

Jun 29, 2021

Springfield, Illinois – It’s been 480 days since we have been able to play hockey in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), but today, we are proud to announce the release of our 2021-22 schedule!

The schedule begins in September and runs through April with each team playing a full 60 game season. 28 games will be played here at The Nelson Center, 28 games will be played on the road, and 4 games will be played at the annual NAHL Showcase. The 18th annual Showcase will take place from September 15-18th at the Super Rink in Blaine, MN, and scouts from the NHL and NCAA are expected to be in attendance.

Our 28th NAHL season kicks off in Janesville on September 10th and our first home game is set for October 1st against the Minnesota Magicians. Janesville, a divisional rival since they joined the league in 2009, will also be our opponent for the final regular season game on April 16th. In between we will have two trips to Alaska to play Fairbanks, Kenai River, and Anchorage, as well as a trip to Mason City, IA for our first look at the North Iowa Bulls.

The NAHL will look quite different this season compared to what fans have become accustomed to. The Anchorage Wolverines, El Paso Rhinos, North Iowa Bulls, and Amarillo Wranglers are all new teams this season, and with the addition of those teams came divisional realignments. Joining the Midwest Division this season will be Anchorage and the Minnesota Wilderness, North Iowa slides into the Central Division, and Amarillo and El Paso round out the South Division.

Hockey is back in the Capital City and we are beyond excited! We are working on our promotional schedule and ticketing packages and will be releasing information on how you can enjoy Jr. Blues hockey this season in the coming weeks.
