Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that rookie defenseman Jake Peterson has committed to play collegiate hockey for Air Force Academy!

Peterson is a native of Rosemount, MN and is in his first season here in Springfield. The smooth skating blueliner has collected 5 goals and 5 assists in 23 games, including an overtime game-winning goal in Fairbanks

“Jake has been a reliable presence on our blue line all season long and has continued to grow each week,” said Head Coach Tyler Rennette. “He’s a hard working young man and Air Force will be lucky to have him on their team!”

Before his time in Springfield, Jake played for Rosemount High School where he appeared in 48 games over two seasons and scored 13 goals and added 30 assists. Additionally he also played for the Minnesota Grey Ducks and the Minnesota Moose of the NAPHL.

“I am honored and excited to announce my commitment to serve my country, further my education, and play Division 1 hockey at the Air Force Academy! I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches, teammates and everyone else who has helped and supported me along the way! #GoFalcons,” said Jake on Instagram.

Peterson will join fellow defenseman James Callahan at Air Force and become the 7th player on our roster to be committed to an NCAA program. Alongside Callahan and Peterson, Mac Gadowsky (Army – West Point), Nikita Nikora (Dartmouth), Edvards Bergmanis (Alaska – Fairbanks), Adyn Merrick (Northern Michigan), and Tyler Borgula (Quinnipiac) have all previously announced their commitments.

Congratulations, Jake! We can’t wait to see what you are able to do in college and beyond!
