Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud member of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Cade Groton has committed to play college hockey for Hamilton College in Clinton, New York.

Groton, 21, was acquired by Springfield from the Johnstown Tomahawks in the off-season prior to the 2018-19 season. In his final season of junior hockey, Groton played in 48 games and compiled 3 goals and 10 assists while providing leadership both on and off the ice as the team’s captain.

“Cade came to us after serving as captain for the Tomahawks last season,” coach Tyler Rennette commented, “and immediately resumed that role upon arrival. He is a hard working player and we wish him the best of luck next season.”

In 111 NAHL games played, Groton tallied 9 goals, 13 assists, and 196 penalty minutes. He wore the “C” twice, once for the Tomahawks and once for the Jr. Blues.

Hamilton College’s athletics nickname is the “Continentals” and they are a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
