Former Jr. Blue Drafted in NHL

Jul 2, 2014

Matt Iacopelli who played for the Jr. Blues in the 2012-2013 season has been drafted in the third round by the Chicago Black Hawks, 83rd overall. The Blackhawks selected 9 total new players. Iacopelli is one of 6 forwards drafted by Chicago. In the USHL Iacopelli had a great season, leading the Muskegon Lumberjacks with 41 goals and 64 points in 58 games. With that achievement he broke two team single season records. That record had been held since 2002. Within interviews after he was drafted, Iacopelli seemed very humble and happy that he was just selected. He was very positive that he couldn’t have done anything without hard work and his family.

We as the Jr. Blues are very happy for Matt and wish him the best. We are very proud to have had the opportunity for him to play with us. From his time here, we know that he will do move on to do great things, whether it remains on the ice or somewhere else in life.
