Cole Lonsdale Commits to RIT

Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Cole Lonsdale has announced his collegiate commitment to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT)!

Lonsdale hails from Mississauga, ON, Canada and joined the Jr. Blues just after the NAHL Showcase in September. In 24 games played for Springfield he has tallied 9 goals and 12 assists for 21 total points. He has additionally played in 6 games for the Madison Capitols of the USHL this season and recorded 1 goal.

“Cole has been one of our most reliable and dependable players from the moment he arrived in Springfield,” said Head Coach Tyler Rennette. “He has a lot of skill and potential and we are excited to see what he’s able to do at the next level. RIT just got a wonderful player and an even better young man.”

Last season, Lonsdale played 53 games for his hometown Mississauga Chargers of the OJHL and picked up 17 goals and 26 assists – leading his team in both categories. Prior to playing juniors Cole skated for the Don Mills Flyers and the Toronto Titans

Cole joins Jake Peterson (Air Force), Tyler Borgula (Quinnipiac), and James Callahan (Air Force) as the fourth player to commit to a NCAA Division 1 program this season. Those four are joined by Edvards Bergmanis (Alaska-Fairbanks), Nikita Nikora (Dartmouth), Adyn Merrick (Northern Michigan), and Mac Gadowsky (Army-West Point) who all committed to their programs prior to the season.
