Jan 20, 2023

Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that veteran defenseman Ben Edwards has been selected as our representative at the 2023 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament!

Edwards, a native of Boise, ID, is in his first season with the Jr. Blues and his second junior hockey season overall (Anchorage Wolverines, 21-22). In 25 games for Springfield this year he has recorded 1 assist and in 56 overall NAHL games he has 3 assists and 56 penalty minutes.

“Ben stepped in at the Showcase and has been a reliable presence on our blueline all season long,” said Head Coach Tyler Rennette. “He’s earned this honor and we look forward to seeing him play in Pittsburgh next month!”

Edwards played for the Nashville Jr. Predators prior to playing juniors and was teammates with fellow Jr. Blues players Brayden Cook, Carson Dorfman and Landry Schmuck. Former Jr. Blues players Jared Kaplowitz, Ethan Roberts, and George Goodwin were also on that team.

The 2023 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament will be held February 6-7th at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Pittsburgh, PA. The Midwest Division team will play on the 6th at 1 pm against the South Division team and wrap up on the 7th at 2 pm against the East Division team. All Top Prospects games will be streamed live on HockeyTV.

Congratulations, Ben, we are proud of you!
