Weekend PLAYOFF Preview: Springfield at Janesville

The playoffs are finally here and your Springfield Jr. Blues are feeling confident going into the weekend with two games on the road against the Janesville Jets.

*Please note the Official Watch Party is at Cooper’s AlleySide for these both games against Janesville starting at 7pm each night*

Be sure to mark your calendars for Friday 4/20 and (possibly) Saturday, 4/21. Your Springfield Jr. Blues are home for their home game of the post season. Be sure to come out on Friday for Happy Hour with $1. Coors Lite drafts from 5:30 until 6:45, with the puck drop at 7:05. We will also have $2 Blue Moon, Give-Aways, A Live Band, and Jersey Auction!

Tonight, the Springfield Jr Blues will be hosted by the Janesville Jets in Janesville, Wisconsin for a single game.

Springfield Jr Blues fans can meet at Cooper’s AlleySide located inside KingPin Lanes to watch the game. Cooper’s AlleySide is at 3115 East Sangamon Avenue, Springfield, IL 62702. The game will start at 7pm.

Weekend Recap

Your Springfield Jr. Blues came away with a loss tonight against the Janesville Jets, splitting the series. The team will be on the road for the next few weekends, making their trip to Alaska to face Fairbanks and Kenai! You can catch the away games at Cooper’s AlleySide for our viewing parties!

 

The first period started with three goals from Janesville, at 2:05, 5:05, and 7:01. At 11:33 Springfield responded with a goal from Brandon Puricellli with assists from Muzzillo and Haviland. Janesville found the back of the net a fourth time, causing goal tender Evan Fear to head to the bench and Jurja Ovecka to step into net at 12:53 of the period. The period ended with one more Springfield goal, this time from Spencer DenBeste on the power play. His assists came from Brainin and Mickelson at 16:12 of the period. We headed into the intermission with a score of 4-2.

 

The second period started with a goal from Nikita Kozyrev at 5:17 with an assist from Stewart, putting your Springfield Jr. Blues within one! Janesville found the back of the net while shorthanded at 14:00 of the period, bringing the score to 5-3. Janesville’s Reid Hill took a 5 minute slashing minor and a game misconduct penalty at the end of this period, giving your Springfield Jr. Blues the one man advantage going into the third period.

 

Your Springfield Jr. Blues started the third with 2:41 remaining on their power play. Unable to capitalize on this, the score stayed at 5-3 in favor of Janesville. At 18:10 Janesville struck again, finishing the game 6-3.

The Springfield Jr. Blues dropped last weekend’s away series against the Topeka RoadRunners.

Springfield is at home this Saturday, facing the Janesville Jets. This is the third time this month they have met the Jets, having dropped the last two series.

Saturday night at Nelson Center will be our Military Appreci, with $5 to anyone with Military ID! We will also be starting our Hero of the Game promotion, honoring a local hero!
