Stewart Leads Jr. Blues to 1-0 Victory

Feb 9, 2019

Richfield, Minnesota – The Springfield Jr. Blues defeated the Minnesota Magicians 1-0 on Friday night in game two of a three game series. Braden Stewart scored the lone goal for the Jr. Blues and Jack Williams picked up his 14th win of the season and his second shutout.

Stewart scored the only goal of the game at the 7:00 mark of the 2nd period assisted by Philipp Mass and Brendan Aird. The goal was Stewart’s first of the season and would be the only offense either team could muster, despite plenty of opportunities.

Williams stopped all 37 shots he faced in the game, while Minnesota’s Ethan Haider only allowed one goal on 35 shots. Neither team made the most of their power play chances as Springfield went 0-for-4 and Minnesota went 0-for-2 on the man advantage.

The third and final game of this weekend series kicks off tonight at 7:00 pm CST and can be seen live on HockeyTV!
