Jr. Blues fall on late goal

Drew Karioflies scored a late power play goal as the Topeka RoadRunners squeaked past the Jr. Blues Saturday night.

 

At the 16:03 mark of the third and final period, with just under four minutes remaining, Karioflies scored a powerplay goal on an assist from Tyler Poulsen, scoring the games lone goal.

 

RoadRunners' starting goalie Spencer Viele recorded the shutout between the pipes on Saturday. Springfield goalie Ryan Kellenberger stopped 34-of-35 shots from Topeka, his best performance of the season.

 

The RoadRunners out shot Springfield 35-24 on the night. With the win, Topeka improved their overall record on the season  to 10-2-2, with a total of 22 points–good enough to have them tied for the South division lead with the Texas Tornado.

 

Springfield had their record on the season fall to 4-8-2, with ten points, which is good enough for seventh place in the North division. twelve points behind Jamestown for first place.

 

The Jr. Blues return home this weekend to face the Janesville Jets Friday and Saturday night. The puck drops at 7:05 both nights.
