Weekend Recap

The Jr. Blues completed a sweep this weekend by defeating the University of Illinois 8-0 and 5-0 on consecutive nights.

 

Friday night the Jr Blues saw 6 different players find the back of the net with the first just 20 seconds into the game with a goal by Jeff Skinner. Hunter Schneider, Anthony Scarsella, and Trevor Stone each had a goal and Anthony Tzveyn and Arseni Vashchuck both scored a pair of goals. In all, 14 Jr. Blues players were tallied a point.

 

On Saturday night, the Jr. Blues were able to bunch 2 goals together in the second period to give them the lead that they were able to keep for the remainder of the game. The first goal was scored by Anthony Tzveyn and assisted by Drew Richter. The second goal was scored unassisted by Kyle Meeh. Jeff Skinner was able to add another in the third period with assists by Joey Lupo and Meeh followed by a goal by Trevor Stone assisted by Anthony Scarsella. Lupo added one more insurance goal with assists from Hunter Schneider and Skinner.

 

Coach Zasowski liked what he saw this weekend, stating: “It was good for us to finally be able to play some games. We are definitely excited about the amount of goals we were able to score. Now we are shifting our focus to preparing for games against Lindenwood this weekend.”

 

This weekend they will be taking on the Lindenwood University Lions. Lindenwood is a member of the Central States Collegiate Hockey League and coached by former NHL player Rick Zombo. These will be Lindenwood’s first games of their season. On Friday the doors will open at 6:05 with the puck dropping at 7:05 and on Saturday doors will open at 4:05 and the puck will drop at 5:05.
