SPRINGFIELD WINS 5-4 OVER THE JETS

Janesville 4 @ Springfield 5 – A goal-for-goal game broke out in Springfield on Friday night, eventually giving way to the home team victory.  The Jr. Blues’ Luke Picek started the scoring for Springfield in the first, which was answered by Janesville’s Jakov Novak. Springfield went ahead again with a Brandon Puricelli goal, until Janesville’s Chris Dodero would once again even the score. Puricelli found the net again late in the second period, which sparked a retaliation goal from Janesville’s Michael Maloney. Seconds later, Matt Cassidy put the Jr. Blues back on top with Springfield’s fourth goal of the night. Early in the third, Janesville’s Kip Hoffmann evened the score one again at 4-4 with his early third period goal. Springfield’s Alex Peck notched the Jr. Blues’ eventual game winner halfway through the third, holding on defensively for the win. Evan Fear took the win in net for Springfield with 25 saves, while Derek Schaedig and Jacob Barczewski spilt 25 saves between the pipes for the Jets. Boxscore
