Springfield Tops Coulee Region 4-2

Apr 8, 2017

The Springfield Jr. Blues got down early but never gave up. Springfield came back to capture a 4-2 victory Friday night over the Coulee Region Chill at The Nelson Center.

Springfield fell behind 1-0 just 4 minutes and 22 seconds into the game. However, Springfield rebounded for two goals before the first period concluded. Spencer DenBeste buried his first of two goals on the night to tie the game at 1. After that, Matt Cassidy scored his 15th goal of the season to put Springfield ahead 2-1.

The scoring for Springfield picked up in the second period. That is when DenBeste scored his 2nd of the game, and 3rd of the season to double Springfield’s lead to 3-1.

In the third period, Jack Nickels was able to ring his shot off the post and in to give Springfield a commanding 4-1 lead. Coulee Region was able to get another goal past Springfield goaltender Jordan Greenfield-Flemon,  but their comeback attempt was too little too late.

Greenfield-Flemon stopped 37 of 39 Coulee Region shot attempts to pick up the victory in net. Coulee Region outshot Springfield 39-34.
