Springfield Overwhelms Coulee Region in Victory

The Springfield Jr. Blues were eager to get back on the ice after a 13 day break between games and it showed in their play Saturday night. Springfield blasted 56 shots on goal and scored a season-high 9 goals as the defeated the Coulee Region Chill 9-3.

Springfield got out to a quick start when Ryan Leibold was able to beat the Coulee Region goaltender with 12:02 remaining in the first period for the first goal of the game. Springfield forward Anthony Grimaldi added a goal of his own to put Springfield’s lead to 2-0 after the first period.

The intermission could not slow Springfield down as Matt Long scored just 3 minutes into the second period. Grimaldi later added his second of the game and Springfield took a 4-1 lead into the final period.

Springfield’s offense never let up as they put up another 5 goals in the third period. Long tallied his second goal just 40 seconds into the 3rd period and was followed by goals from Brennan Blasczcak, Brandon Puricelli, Chase Mickelson and Max Nylander.

Springfield goaltender Mike Robinson stopped 27 of 30 Coulee Region shot attempts.
