Springfield Drops Weekend Series vs Minnesota

The Springfield Jr. Blues were unable to repeat their performance from earlier in the week. The team traveled to Minnesota and dropped two games to the Minnesota Magicians.

On Saturday Springfield got down early and was not able to recover, falling to the Magicians by a final score of 5-2. Springfield, who outshot the Magicians 42-31 for the game, received goals from Max Nylander and Matt Cassidy. Nylander’s goal was his 4th goal in the past 3 games. Springfield goaltender Garrett Nieto stopped 27 of 32 shots on goal.

In a rare Sunday matchup, Springfield could not get on the scoreboard and dropped the contest 3-0. Springfield was unable to solve Minnesota’s goaltender Jake Acton as he stopped all 24 of Springfield shots. Springfield goaltender Mike Robinson turned away 28 of Minnesota’s 30 shots on goal.

Springfield will be off this weekend and will return to the ice Saturday, January 21st in La Crosse, Wisconsin for a matchup with the Coulee Region Chill.
