Oct 16, 2017

The Springfield Jr. Blues took an early lead but were shut out over the final two periods as they suffered a 3-1 North American Hockey League loss to the Minnesota Magicians on Saturday night.

The Magicians won two games in the three-game home series, with each team getting an overtime victory before Minnesota’s regulation win on Saturday.

Nikita Kozyrev gave Springfield a 1-0 lead when he scored on assists from Nolan Turi and Jordan Muzzillo at 14 minutes 17 seconds into the first period. But the Magicians tied it at 12:44 into the second period.

It remained tied until the Magicians scored with 2:09 left to play in regulation. Springfield then conceded an empty net goal shortly after that.

Springfield outshot the Magicians 32-30, but Springfield was 0-for-2 on the power play while Minnesota was 1-for-3.

Springfield is currently 5-5-1-1 and in third place in the NAHL Midwest Division. They will be idle next weekend before resuming play with a two-game home series against Topeka on Oct. 27-28 at the Nelson Center.
